Currently, in the Cornerstone theme, selecting a product variant only displays a color chip/swatch. There is no option to display the actual variant image as the swatch.
We would like the theme to support image swatches for product variants, similar to many modern Shopify themes. When a variant has its own featured image, that image should be displayed as the swatch instead of (or as an option alongside) a plain color chip.
Requested functionality:
- Add a theme setting to enable Variant Image Swatches.
- Display the assigned variant image as the swatch thumbnail.
- Continue to support the existing color chip option for merchants who prefer it.
- Ensure selecting an image swatch updates the main product image correctly.
- Support this on both the Product page and Collection/Quick View cards (if applicable).
- This feature would improve the shopping experience by allowing customers to visually identify each variant more easily, especially for products with different colors, patterns, or designs.
