Blog posts: Option for max-width of Featured image#36

We seem to have 2 options for displaying the featured image on blog post pages: all the way to the edge, or just a tiny bit of margin on either side. Either way, having your featured image stretch all the way across the screen means it’s going to crop in weird ways. Perfect example: https://cornerstone-theme-glow.myshopify.com/blogs/news/postd

Ideally we’d be able to set a width contraint on the featured image.

Hey @Steve Patrizi

Thank you for your feedback!
I might have a workaround for your particular use-case.

Here’s what you’ll want to try:

  • Hide the Featured image block in the Blog post section
  • Add a Rich text section, and drag it above the Blog post section
  • Set the Rich text section’s Content alignment to “Content center”
  • Delete all the default blocks from the Rich text section, and add an Image block to it instead
  • Use the Custom width setting in the Image block to choose a preferred width
  • Add your blog post’s featured image to the Image block by clicking the Dynamic sources button above the image field (pictured) and then select ‘Image’

If you have any questions about that set up, send us a message in support (help@fluorescent.co) and we can help out with the steps :)

I will still leave this request up, as this workaround doesn’t quite work if you want the featured image mixed between the various blog post blocks. But it does work if you want the featured image at the top of the blog post.
