Ability to change the pagewidth. Its crazy to live in a 32” world and have everything fullwith only. looks very bad!
thank you

Hey there!
The maximum width of the Cornerstone is 1800px, which prevents elements from stretching to full width on larger screens.
I’ll rename the title of this request to provide some clarity to the feature suggestion.
Please feel free to provide a more accurate description of the request below to give us a better idea of what you’re looking to achieve!
Thank you :)

I think what they’re saying is that it’s pretty common for themes (on Shopify and other platforms, like HubSpot) to have the option to set the width by section. There are usually some presets (e.g. Slim, Standard, Full) as well as the option to set a custom width.
For example, the “Image with content” section stretches to the full width of the brower, which can look kinda not-great on wide screens. Sure, you can adjust the max width of the content, but that leaves you with uneven margins on the left and right. Would be nice to set the width of the section as well.
100% we need to be able to set the overall width of website so it does not strech huge on big screens.

Hi @Steve Patrizi and @Neil.tasker, thanks so much for working with us to clarify this suggestion.
I’m getting mixed messages, as your examples are indicating that sections in Cornerstone don’t have a width limiter at all, whereas most (including the Image with content) are limited to the common width of 1800px, as Lynne noted.
The only sections that should be truly full-width are the hero sections, which would be the Slideshow, Image hero, and Video hero, though each of these will still only allow the background image/video to stretch wide, in order to match the backgrounds of other sections.
So what I’m understanding is the suggestion could be one of two things:
Are you looking to have width-restrictions on the backgrounds/hero media backgrounds for each section? If so, it would seem to me that this be preferable as a theme-wide setting.
Or, are you looking to change the max-width of the section content, which does not include the background/hero backgrounds. This could be either theme-wide or section specific, though I’m not sure having the section-based granularity would really benefit much.
I’ve also attached an exaggerated screenshot to show what I mean with the width differences, especially between backgrounds and actual section content. Hopefully that helps clarify what the theme currently does!
Thank you!

Hi @Jordan - thanks for asking for clarification. I don’t want to completely speak for @Neil.tasker, but here’s the problem I’m trying solve: for sections like “Image with Content,” you can set the width of the content area in pixels, which effectively adds padding to either side of the content, and you can set the width of the image, which governs what % of the section the image takes up, but you can’t add left and right padding to the entire section from what I can tell.
Why would you want to do that? Well, because in the current setup you end up having a bunch of padding on one one side of the section (the content side) and no padding on the image side, making the section look unbalanced, as you can see in the attached screenshot. Other platforms/themes solve this by allowing you to set the max width of the entire section - sometimes in pre-sets, sometimes by just sliding the desired width in pixesl.
In my example below, to avoid having my text all the way over on the left hand side of the screen, i’ve used the max width of the content, but i’d prefer to just constrain the entire section, which would add padding/margin to the right side of the image and help center the section.
To your other question though, it would be nice to have width controls for the entire site. For example, in my screenshot you can see my header stretches the entire width; i’d prefer to have the option to set the max width of the header items.
Does that help clarify the suggestion?

Thanks so much @Steve Patrizi, that does clarify this request! We do already have a suggestion for the header width (which is background related) so I’ll solidify this suggestion into being max-width settings per section, to differentiate it from the other.
@Neil.tasker if you find we may also want to gather votes for a theme-wide max-width (which would apply to all backgrounds and hero section backgrounds) let me know and we can simply create a second suggestion for it specifically.
Thanks so much you two for contributing! It’s really important that we define these suggestions like this, cause then they are much more understandable and actionable. You’re a big help!
@Jordan - thanks for getting back to us both. @Steve Patrizi - This issue isnt my issue, however I see where your coming from and if this option as you suggest was implimented, we would probably use the section more on our sites. My issue is with the over all width settings of the website, when you visit our site. its zoomed in, especialy on large PC screens like my mac. If you open two tabs, one with tool station and one with Taskers Sports and flick between each, you will see on a bigger screen our site is a good 20% bigger and looks less professional.
@Jordan - following on from your second comment, yes please set up a second vote- very much appriciated. cheers neil

yeah i can see why @Neil.tasker wants this as well; by contraining the width of the entire site, more of the site appears above the fold. that new request will get my vote.

Right! So we want it all, we can put up that suggestion for sure :)

Is this ever coming? I’m reluctant to update to the current theme b/c each time I do, I need to re-add a bunch of custom stuff, so I’ve been waiting to update hoping this will be included. Pretty disappointing that this has so many votes and still hasn’t been addressed, yet it’s one of the most basic things available in many other themes.

Hey there!
We understand this is a particularly anticipated feature, and we can confirm that it is not ignored.
Our development schedule is priority-based, and our developers right now are continuously shuffling tasks around in order to ensure that they’re able to address new bugs and platform changes that come up, while still building new features and products.
We may not have an ETA at this time, but please keep voting for these suggestions as they directly affect our overall theme development and planning.
Thank you!

I really want to back up this request. There’s only an option to adjust top and bottom padding to the section- but not the padding on the sides. I have the option to adjust the width of the text, but that’s it. But, I can narrow down the text as much as I want- the block of images is still huge.
On the image you see a store I’m creating for a client, one block of product covers the whole window. It doesn’t look good.
These blocks cant be centered either, so if I wanna display a collection list, I need to fill upp all the slots, because the collections will just stop mid screen, and the less slots you fill, the larger each image will be. I
f I could center the content block at least, it would look better.
Or, if I had the option to make displayed product images smaller, it wold be able to clean up the aesthetics of the page. In the mega menu too, the images are huge. It makes me opt out on these features all together.
Is there at least any custom liquid or css that would help somehow? Anyone who knows?

do we have any update on this feature? @Steve Patrizi @Jordan
